A background for an existing profile portrait
This page is for anyone who has a portrait they want to use on a profile and would like to choose its background. Start with a clear photo of one person. The source should show the full head and shoulders so there is room to choose a useful composition.
The photographed person stays the same
PortraitDock preserves the face, hair, clothing, and pose in the source photo. It prepares the background and framing without face generation or beauty filters. Choose a source whose lighting and expression you already like, because those parts of the photograph stay as they are.
You can choose a solid colour and set its HEX value, or select a linear or radial gradient using your chosen colours. You also choose square or portrait framing. The background and composition are adjustable choices; your photographed appearance is not a setting to change.
Choose a background and crop that work together
Look for separation around the hair and shoulders. If the background colour is very close to the clothing or hair, those edges may be harder to see. A restrained neutral, a muted colour, or a soft gradient can keep attention on the face without overpowering the portrait.
Use the visible head and chin guides while checking the crop. A square composition can work for a compact profile image; portrait framing offers a taller canvas. Leave enough space so the top of the head and chin remain visible in the selected composition.
Choose a profile picture background in four steps
Upload one clear source photo of one person in JPEG, PNG, WebP, or a compatible iPhone format.
Choose a solid HEX colour or a linear or radial gradient, using colours that separate clearly from the person.
Select square or portrait framing, then use the visible head and chin guides to check the crop.
Review the selected background and composition with your photo before paying; then complete checkout and download JPEG and PNG exports.
Face soft light from the front and keep the camera around eye level. Include the full head, chin, and both shoulders, with some background around the person. A little space around hair and clothing gives you more room to check the crop.
Use a sharp original with visible eyes and clear edges around the hair. Avoid a source where strong backlight or blur hides those edges. Take a few photos and choose the one whose light, clothing, and expression you want to keep in the finished portrait.
